Images of Peru - Cuzco
Here are a couple of examples of the amazing historical and cultural artifacts and structures that serve as the backdrop for Stealing from the Gods:
Cuzco and Sacsayhuamán - Notice the tight interlocking of the blocks - each weighing 10-300 tons (weighing anywhere from a passenger car to more than a locomotive engine!) as well as the smooth curvature. Each stone is fitted so closely to the other that you can't even slip a piece of paper between them. These were supposedly built nearly a thousand years ago by people who lacked the use of metals and the wheel. It is difficult to imagine how it would be done even with modern equipment!
